After-School & Summer Programs

We complement your child’s school experience with after-school and summer programs that work with—and enhance—both their classwork and their personal development.

Bringing a bigger world into the classroom

Whether it’s a daily after-school program or a full-time summer program, we emphasize a variety of activities to help kids grow academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. We encourage a blend of group play, collaboration, and individual study. We value face-to-face interaction and encourage kids’ ability to focus, which means we incorporate less screen time and more “in-the-moment” time. And underlying everything we do is a sense of community involvement, good citizenship, and environmental stewardship.

  • We develop personal relationship with kids’ school teachers and work closely with them to align our activities and studies with theirs
  • We further the classroom experience with lots of activity, balancing on-site activities with off-site adventures
  • Daily activities can include:
    • Science projects
    • Art and literature
    • Field trips to museums and parks
    • Sports activities
    • Skating
    • Bowling
    • Story time
    • Read-a-thons
    • Water play
    • Community service
    • Communication and social skills development
  • We serve healthy snacks and meals throughout the day
  • We continually focus on understanding and preventing bullying, peer pressure, and negative social behaviors—kindness always wins

Snapshot of a day:

This is an example of what your child’s day might look like—while we feature many group activities and outings, kids will also get customized academic support as needed.

I can always count on Shauna and the other staff to continually let me know what is going on with my kids. I am glad that my kids can learn new things, explore different ideas, and make new friends.

Kim, BLC mom

Today after lunch we went to the Red Butte gardens and tried counting the butterflies in the butterfly garden. Did you know they’re attracted to phlox? I thought it was spelled F-L-O-X but it starts with a P-H. Isn’t that funny? Then we went for a walk up the hill and learned that Utah is in a desert and that’s why we need to conserve water, so I’m going to start turning off the faucet while I brush my teeth. That’s one of the ideas the teacher had.
